Through Bridges to Opportunities, individuals gain the training necessary – at no cost to themselves – for careers in the construction field, whether on the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project or on other construction projects in the years to come.

Three primary components of the program:

  • Training on basic skills, such as interviewing skills and safety rules/regulations.
  • Apprenticeships and work-skill programs in partnership with local unions.
  • An educational career track for obtaining a degree in a related field. (Bridges to Opportunities funds up to two years of education toward a certificate or associate's degree.)

We created this program out of the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project, but our hope is that the program will continue on to provide transferable skills for individuals who are looking for opportunities for career changes or who may be underemployed and just want to seek opportunities in the construction or transportation fields.
